Love Your Mountain Day 2014
Love Your Mountain Day 2014 will be on Sunday 7 December from 10am to 4pm.
This event celebrates the maunga/volcanic cones of Auckland and highlights the importance of their care and preservation.
This year the management of Auckland's maunga was handed over to the Maunga Authority, with representatives from the Tāmaki Collective and Auckland Council. It will govern 14 of the volcanic cones, including Maungawhau.
This will be the ninth year the event has been held, enjoyed by hundreds of locals and visitors. The mountain will be closed to traffic and there will be a number of activities taking place on Maungawhau, in Government House grounds and Eden Garden.
This event is supported by the Tāmaki Collective, Government House, Eden Garden and the Albert-Eden Local Board.
There is no rain date for Love Your Mountain Day. Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions and make sure you wear sunblock if you are in the sun for any length of time.
